EM-347B is a brushless DC motor driver with hall sensor feedback and an efficient MOSFET power stage, designed to meet today’s EMC requirements. The driver supports 120° commutation and includes a true 4-quadrant power stage, enabling regenerative braking.
During regenerative braking the supply voltage rises. This rise can be controlled with a braking resistor. In battery-powered systems the regenerated energy can be directed back into the battery, eliminating the need for a braking resistor.
The EM-347B includes basic digital command inputs such as direction, brake, start/stop and disable. In addition, analog inputs are provided for speed and current control. A digitally presettable second speed (speed-2) can be activated via digital command input.
Two NPN outputs are available for fault and overcurrent indication, and several I/O functions can be modified via parameters.
The driver includes protection against overvoltage, undervoltage and overtemperature. Fault situations are indicated with an on-board fault LED. Overtemperature and current limit events can be cleared using a reset input, a reset timer, or by setting the analog speed control to zero.
Start and stop ramps operate in both modes. Speed range, closed-loop RPM range, and ramp times are parameter adjustable. Filtered analog inputs also allow the use of a PWM control signal for speed and current control.
Settings can be configured using the EM-236 interface unit or with a PC running EmenTool Lite together with the EM-268 adapter cable. Parameters are stored in non-volatile memory. The interface also supports monitoring of motor current and RPM.
The device can be mounted on a DIN-rail base, and enclosure options are available.
