EM-30-HALL is a Hall-effect transducer designed for detecting the movement of ferrous gear wheels. It generates an electrical pulse signal as the gear teeth pass the sensing end of the transducer.
The transducer is sensitive to the direction of the magnetic flux and must therefore be correctly aligned during installation. Alignment marks on the sensor body indicate the required orientation relative to the plane of rotation of the gear wheel.
The nominal distance between the transducer and the gear wheel is 2 mm. Depending on the size and geometry of the gear teeth, the air gap can be adjusted within an approximate range of 0–3 mm.
The recommended minimum nominal gear module is 2 mm. When the transducer is used with a gear wheel having a smaller tooth module, the sensing distance should be reduced. With substantially larger gear teeth, the sensing distance may be increased up to 3 mm.
The transducer supports pulse frequencies from static conditions up to 5 kHz. The output can sink a maximum current of 30 mA. The specified source current is determined by the supply voltage through a 2.2 kΩ resistance.
The sensor body and mounting nut are specified as AISI 317 stainless steel. The enclosure is rated to IP67 for protection against dust and temporary immersion when correctly installed.
