EM-M41 is an optical signal isolator designed for galvanic isolation of 4–20 mA current-loop signals in PLC and industrial control systems. It transfers the input current to the isolated output with a nominal 1:1 conversion ratio.
The module provides a specified isolation voltage of 1500 V and supports an extended signal range from 1 to 22 mA. The input stage obtains its operating energy from the current-loop signal, reducing the need for an additional input-side power connection.
The EM-M41 receives a 4–20 mA input signal and reproduces it as an electrically isolated output current. The nominal input-to-output conversion ratio is 1:1 with a specified ratio accuracy of ±0.1%.
The nominal signal range is 4–20 mA. The module can also operate over an extended current range from 1 to 22 mA, allowing signal levels outside the nominal process range to be transferred.
Optical signal transmission provides galvanic isolation between the input and output circuits. The specified isolation voltage is 1500 V.
The isolation helps prevent ground-loop currents and unwanted electrical coupling between field instrumentation and PLC or control-system inputs.
The module transfers signals from DC up to 100 Hz. The specified 10–90% settling time is 10 ms, making the unit suitable for standard process signals and moderately changing measurement values.
The input stage includes overcurrent protection. The output stage is protected against overvoltage and incorrect polarity.
The standard EM-M41 provides one isolated signal channel in a DIN-rail-mountable housing.
A dual-channel version is available under the type code EM-M41-2. The two-channel version requires approximately 10 mm of installation width per channel.
