EM-M66 is an isolated ramp generator that produces an adjustable analogue voltage or current output. Its output value is increased or decreased using two digital control inputs, which can be operated by switches, relay contacts or compatible on/off voltage signals.
The ramp time, output range, start-up value and control response are configured with DIP switches. The unit supports both fine step-by-step adjustment and continuous output ramping.
The EM-M66 has separate inputs for increasing and decreasing the output. When either control input is activated, the output immediately changes by one step in the selected direction.
If the input remains active, continuous ramping starts after a selectable delay of 0.1 or 0.3 seconds. This arrangement permits accurate single-step adjustment even when a fast ramp time has been selected.
The nominal time for changing the output through its full 0–100% range can be selected with DIP switches. Available ramp times are 1, 2, 4, 7, 10, 15, 20 and 25 seconds.
The output is divided into 254 steps. The size of one step therefore depends on the selected output range.
The output value used after power-up can be selected from four alternatives:
The output can be configured as a voltage or current signal using DIP switches. Available ranges include unipolar and bipolar signals for compatibility with different automation and motor-control systems.
Zero and gain adjustments provide ±20% fine adjustment. The adjustments are specified to operate independently and have the same relative effect on all selectable output ranges.
The control-input, analogue-output and power-supply sections are galvanically isolated from one another. This helps reduce ground-loop problems and allows the ramp generator to be integrated into systems with separate signal reference potentials.
The analogue output stage is protected against short circuits, and the supply input is protected against reverse polarity.
