EM-A18 is a short-range 433 MHz RF receiver card with two control outputs. It is designed for use with compatible EM-A14T key-fob transmitters and can be integrated into automation, access-control and remote-control applications.
The receiver uses KeeLoq-based rolling-code communication. Up to 16 compatible transmitters can be paired with one receiver, allowing several users to operate the same installation.
The EM-A18 provides two control outputs for operating two independent functions. Commands are received from compatible EM-A14T key-fob transmitters operating in the 433 MHz frequency band.
The active output voltage is approximately one volt below the receiver supply voltage. Each output has a specified maximum current of 5 mA and is intended primarily for compatible control inputs or other high-impedance loads.
Compatible transmitters are registered to the receiver using a learning procedure. The receiver can store up to 16 EM-A14T transmitters simultaneously.
Once paired, the receiver recognises the rolling-code transmissions associated with the registered transmitters. The exact learning and memory-clearing procedure should be followed according to the EM-A18 operating instructions.
The KeeLoq-based rolling-code system changes the transmitted code during operation. This helps prevent the receiver from responding to unrelated transmitters using the same radio frequency.
Suitability for locking, access-control or other security-related applications must be assessed as part of the complete system.
The receiver uses a 17 cm wire antenna. Its position and orientation have a significant effect on radio performance. The antenna should be kept away from large metal surfaces, high-current wiring and sources of electromagnetic interference whenever possible.
The receiver card can be installed using the optional EM-KP72-31.25 DIN-rail base.
