EM-M50 is an eight-channel alarm logic module designed for alarm monitoring and indication in industrial automation systems. Its 96 × 96 mm panel-mounted construction makes it suitable for integration into control panels and operator consoles.
Each input channel can be individually configured to activate when a contact opens or closes. The inputs can also be controlled using voltage signals. Dedicated indication outputs follow the input states in real time and can operate with either normal or inverted logic.
When an alarm condition is detected, the indication light of the corresponding channel begins to flash. At the same time, the group alarm relay and transistor alarm output indicate a common alarm condition.
The alarm is latched so that temporary faults are not overlooked. If the input returns to its normal state before the alarm is reset, the alarm indication remains active until it is cleared using the reset function.
When an active alarm is acknowledged, the common group alarm is cleared. The indication for the affected channel remains continuously illuminated until the input returns to its normal state. A new, unacknowledged alarm flashes, while an acknowledged alarm that is still active remains steadily illuminated.
Each of the eight alarm inputs can be configured for activation by either an opening or closing contact. The inputs also accept voltage control signals using the specified low and high logic levels.
The indication outputs normally follow the states of their corresponding inputs. The output logic can also be inverted so that the output state is reversed relative to the input.
A common input delay can be adjusted from 0.5 to 4 seconds. This helps prevent short signal disturbances from generating unnecessary alarms.
The alarm output has a separate adjustable delay from 0 to 10 seconds. Both delay settings are common to all eight alarm channels.
The operation of the EM-M50 can be verified using the front-panel test button. Separate external test and reset inputs are also provided.
The external inputs allow several EM-M50 units to be connected together so that their test and reset functions can be operated as a group.
The EM-M50 provides an NPN open-collector alarm output and a group alarm relay output. The transistor output can be used for connection to an external alarm or automation system.
The group alarm relay is energized during normal operation and de-energized when an alarm occurs. This fail-safe operating principle also allows a loss of the module’s supply voltage to be detected as an alarm condition by the external system.
The supply input is protected against voltage transients and reverse polarity, helping protect the module against common wiring and supply disturbances.
