EM-83 is a portable vibration scanner designed for measuring the total vibration level and locating individual frequency components. The total vibration level is measured using true RMS detection, while frequency analysis is performed with a digitally controlled narrow-band band-pass filter.
The instrument supports both acceleration and vibration velocity measurements. It automatically identifies the connected EM-82 sensor and scales the display according to the sensor type and measuring range.
The EM-83 can scan the selected frequency range to identify dominant components in a vibration signal. Its automatic stop function pauses the scan when the measured component exceeds the configured trigger level, helping the user locate significant vibration frequencies.
The frequency step changes according to the scanned frequency. Fine resolution is used at low frequencies, while progressively larger steps are used at higher frequencies.
The instrument displays the relevant measurement values simultaneously. A bar display indicates the currently scanned vibration component in relation to the measured total vibration level.
An over-range indication warns the user if the measuring range of the connected sensor or the instrument itself is exceeded.
The EM-83 is designed for use with the EM-82-05 and EM-82-50 acceleration sensors. The ±5 g sensor is intended for lower vibration levels, while the ±50 g sensor provides a wider measuring range for higher vibration levels.
The instrument supplies the connected sensor and automatically selects the corresponding display scale.
The EM-83 operates from a single 9 V battery and provides a typical operating time of approximately 10 hours. To conserve battery capacity, the instrument switches off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.
The electronics are housed in a durable aluminium enclosure, and the display is protected by a double-layer glass cover.
