Overview

EM-106A is a controller for brushless DC motors equipped with Hall sensor feedback. It supports motors with either 60° or 120° Hall commutation and uses a high-efficiency MOSFET power stage.

Standard control functions include speed adjustment, start and stop, direction change, and braking. The controller can be mounted directly with screws or installed using a standard DIN-rail mounting base.

Speed Control Modes

The EM-106A provides two selectable speed control modes:

  • Direct control: the motor voltage is proportional to the control voltage, providing operation similar to a conventional brushed DC motor controller.
  • Frequency-locked control: the controller uses the Hall sensor signal for both motor commutation and closed-loop speed control. This provides accurate motor speed in relation to the control voltage.

Closed-Loop Adjustment

In frequency-locked mode, the loop response can be adjusted to achieve stable speed control with different motors, loads, and mechanical systems.

The analog control input range can be scaled using an adjustment trimmer. This allows the available motor speed range to be matched to the external control signal.

Motor Current Limit

The motor current limit is adjustable from 0 to 10 A using a trimmer. When the motor current reaches the selected limit, the controller restricts the drive output to prevent the current from rising above the set value.

Protection

The controller is protected against reverse supply polarity. A fuse provides protection against excessive current.

Installation

The compact controller can be installed directly using mounting screws or attached to a standard DIN rail with a suitable rail-mounting base.
