Overview

EM-282D-JS1 is a high-current full-bridge DC motor starter designed for joystick-operated motion control systems. It includes adjustable ramps for smooth starts and stops, and an adjustable current limit for overload protection or use as an electronic end-stop.

The control input stage is specifically designed for joystick operation. When the calibration function is activated, the device automatically detects joystick forward, reverse and midpoint positions.

The FAULT terminal works as both input and output: normally high, driven low on overtemperature or conditional current trip. Pulling the FAULT line low externally stops the motor and prevents restart. Multiple EM-282D-JS1 units can be linked to create a synchronous stop system.

Special Functions

  • Start-kick for increasing torque when starting under heavy load or risk of jamming
  • Configurable input logic — each limit input can be NPN or PNP
  • Braking output for external resistor or magnetic brake control

Modbus Communication

This D-version includes an integrated RS-485 serial port supporting the Modbus RTU protocol. This enables remote control of speed, direction, ramp times, current limit and monitoring of operational values.

Parameter Setting and Monitoring

Parameter setting can be done using EM interface units. Devices such as the EM-236 or EM-328 (with EmenTool Lite software) enable complete configuration and monitoring of motor current, limits, speeds and functional states.
