EM-231B is a controller for motorized doors and hatches using a 24 V brushed DC motor. The unit includes an integrated 230 VAC power supply, while the motor and control circuits operate at galvanically isolated low voltage.
The driver provides high short-term output capacity for motor startup and demanding movement. Dual-channel pulse feedback enables the controller to monitor door movement and position, supporting smooth and repeatable operation.
The EM-231B controls the opening and closing movement of motorized doors, covers and hatches. Motor speed can be adjusted between 0% and 100%, allowing the movement characteristics to be adapted to the application.
Two basic control modes are available. In two-button mode, separate commands are used for opening and closing. In one-button mode, successive commands change the operating state.
The controller supports dual-channel pulse feedback from the motor or mechanism. The two feedback signals allow movement and direction to be monitored more reliably than with a single pulse channel.
The maximum supported feedback frequency is 700 Hz.
The adjustable current limit protects the motor and mechanical system against excessive current and force. A rise in motor current can also be used to detect an obstruction during door movement.
When an obstruction condition is detected, the controller can stop and reverse the movement for a configured period. This safety-reverse function helps release an object from the closing path.
An external safety edge can be installed on the leading edge of a moving door or hatch. Activation of the safety input can stop or reverse the movement according to the configured operating logic.
The emergency input uses active-low logic. A signal between 0 and 1 V activates the input, while 4–30 V or an open circuit is inactive.
Automatic closing can be activated after the door has been opened through the proximity input. The applicable delay and operating conditions are determined by the controller parameters.
The hardware includes an output option for a separate lock motor. The standard firmware does not support this function, so a compatible program version is required before the output can be used.
A normally closed relay output is available for alarm or external status indication. The relay contact is rated for a maximum load of 1 A at 30 V.
The EM-231B-RC version includes an EM-A14R-FM-4 receiver operating in the 433 MHz frequency band. Commands can be transmitted using compatible two-button or four-button keyfobs.
A two-button transmitter can address up to two controller functions or units, while the four-button transmitter supports up to four. The remote-control system uses KeeLoq rolling code instead of a fixed transmitted code.
