EM-165 is a compact and cost-effective positioning driver with an integrated servo amplifier and power stage for controlling a brushed DC motor. It is designed for spindle-type actuators equipped with a feedback potentiometer.
The driver is particularly suitable for slow- and medium-speed positioning systems with an end-to-end travel time of approximately 2–30 seconds. The adjustable current limit can be used to restrict motor torque and protect the mechanism.
The required position is set using an external potentiometer or a 0–5 V control signal. The EM-165 compares the position command with the feedback signal and drives the motor toward the requested position.
As the feedback value approaches the set value, the driver reduces the motor speed. The motor stops when the feedback and command values match.
The selectable current limit restricts the motor torque. If the motor current remains at the selected limit for more than two seconds, the current-trip function shuts down the driver.
The driver also trips if the requested position is not reached within 30 seconds. When a trip occurs, the error output is activated. Operation can be restored by applying a control command in the opposite direction.
The power stage includes self-resetting overload and overcurrent protection. An external fuse is nevertheless recommended.
The compact driver can be installed using screw fastening or mounted on a DIN rail with an optional rail-mounting base.
