EM-352 is a brushless DC motor driver with Hall sensor feedback for precise speed regulation. The unit features an efficient MOSFET power stage and supports 120° Hall commutation.
A true 4-quadrant power stage enables regenerative braking. During braking, the supply voltage rises and can be controlled using a braking resistor. In battery-powered systems, the regenerated energy can be returned to the battery, eliminating the need for a braking resistor.
The EM-352 includes digital command inputs for direction, start/stop, disable, and speed-2 activation. Analog inputs are provided for speed and current-limit control.
A PNP fault output provides external status indication. Several input and output functions can be modified using parameters.
The true 4-quadrant power stage allows controlled operation and braking in both directions. When the motor decelerates, mechanical energy is converted back into electrical energy.
A suitable braking resistor can be connected to limit the resulting rise in supply voltage. The recommended minimum resistance is 4.7 Ω in a 12 V system and 10 Ω in a 24 V system.
The EM-352 provides two selectable speed control modes:
Start and stop ramps operate in both modes. The speed range, closed-loop RPM range, and ramp times can be adjusted using parameters.
The filtered analog inputs can be used for both speed and current-limit control. The input range can be selected from 0–5 V up to 0–10 V.
The input filtering also allows PWM signals to be used for speed and current-limit control.
The motor current limit can be set from 0.1 to 12 A in 0.1 A steps. An external 0–5 V analog signal can also be used for current-limit control.
Current-limit conditions can be cleared using the reset input, a reset timer, or by setting the analog speed command to zero.
The driver includes protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, and overtemperature.
The RS-485 Modbus interface allows external control, parameter adjustment, and integration with automation systems.
Parameters can be configured digitally using the EM-236 Interface Unit. PC-based configuration is available using EmenTool Lite together with the EM-328 adapter cable.
Parameter settings are stored in the driver’s non-volatile memory. The interface can also be used to monitor motor current and RPM.
An optional cooling fan can be controlled using the dedicated NPN output. The output activates automatically when the driver temperature reaches 55°C.
The device can be installed on a DIN-rail mounting base. Optional enclosure versions are available for different installation environments.
