Overview

EM-M11A is a configurable analog signal converter and isolator for commonly used industrial automation signals. It supports both voltage and current inputs and can convert them into a selected voltage or current output signal.

Five input ranges can be freely combined with five output ranges, providing up to 25 signal-conversion combinations. Input, output and supply circuits are galvanically isolated from one another.

Signal Conversion

The EM-M11A supports the following conversion types:

  • Current input to current output
  • Current input to voltage output
  • Voltage input to current output
  • Voltage input to voltage output

All conversions include galvanic isolation between the input and output circuits.

Selectable Input Ranges

The input range is configured using DIP switches. Available ranges are:

  • 0–1 V
  • 0–5 V
  • 0–10 V
  • 0–20 mA
  • 4–20 mA

The voltage input impedance depends on the selected range. Both current input ranges use a 50 Ω input resistance.

Selectable Output Ranges

The output can be independently configured for any of the following ranges:

  • 0–1 V
  • 0–5 V
  • 0–10 V
  • 0–20 mA
  • 4–20 mA

The voltage outputs are intended for loads greater than 1 kΩ. The current outputs can drive a load resistance of up to 700 Ω.

Selectable Frequency Response

The signal bandwidth can be selected between 20 Hz and 1 kHz. The 20 Hz setting can be used to reduce high-frequency noise in slowly changing process signals, while the 1 kHz setting provides a faster response for dynamic signals.

Zero and Gain Adjustment

Separate zero and gain adjustments are provided, each with an adjustment range of ±20%. The adjustments are designed so that changing one setting does not significantly affect the other.

Three-Way Galvanic Isolation

The input, output and supply circuits are galvanically isolated from one another. The specified isolation voltage is 1000 V between the isolated circuit sections.
