EM-363A is a full-bridge DC motor controller designed for applications requiring flexible motor control and additional programmable functions. Forward and reverse operation is controlled with dedicated FW and BW inputs.
Adjustable acceleration and deceleration ramps provide smooth starts and stops, while the adjustable current limit protects the motor against overcurrent. The current limit can also be utilized in end-stop applications.
The EM-363A provides two configurable speeds. The SPEED-2 input activates the preset second speed and can alternatively be used as a 0–5 V analog speed control input. The STOP input can also be configured for analog current limit control.
The controller provides dedicated inputs for the main motor control functions:
Two selectable operating modes are available:
Control and limit inputs are divided into separate groups. The input logic of each group can be individually configured for NPN or PNP operation.
The EM-363A includes an RS-485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol for integration with PLCs, automation systems and other Modbus controllers. The Modbus interface can be used for controlling and monitoring the motor controller.
Supported communication speeds are 9600 and 19200 bps.
The FAULT terminal provides both input and output functionality. During normal operation the signal is high. The output is pulled low in an overtemperature condition and, depending on the configuration, during a current trip.
Pulling the FAULT line low externally stops the motor and prevents a new start. Fault lines from multiple controllers can therefore be linked together to provide synchronous shutdown of several drives.
The adjustable current limit protects the motor against excessive current and can also be used as part of an end-stop function.
The PWM frequency can be selected between 2 kHz and 16 kHz. The 16 kHz setting provides quieter motor operation, while the 2 kHz setting allows higher output current.
Additional configurable functions include:
Parameters can be configured using several Electromen interface options:
The EM-363A is supplied in a robust black metal housing with lockable spring-cage connectors designed for industrial and automotive applications.
The controller can be installed horizontally or vertically using screw mounting. Optional DIN-rail mounting is available with the EM-T55 rail fastener.
